Northern abundance: The heart of Île d’Orléans

Nestled within the blue waters of the St. Lawrence River is the quaint Île d’Orléans of Québec, Canada. A single road rounds this pastoral island, where visitors seem to step back into the ways of the old world. One can find old stone houses across the island, amidst roaming livestock, hay bales and vineyards. In the summertime, clothes blow on lines, kittens loll in the shade and wildflowers grow along dirt roads. As the seasons change, the final harvests of apples and squash come with bright, changing leaves until the island grows slow and quiet with the winter. This post Northern abundance: The heart of Île d’Orléans appeared on Our Sunday Visitor.

Be ready for Mass this Sixth Sunday of Easter. Catherine Cavadini reflects upon the law of love that Christ lays out in the Gospel: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” “If we love Christ and enter into the intimate relationship that “he himself is,” we will love as Christ loves. Christ’s love will become our new way of life.” She adds, “And then a most beautiful indwelling will happen: “On that day you will realize that I am in my Father and you are in me and I in you.” This post Love as a treasured possession appeared on Our Sunday Visitor.
